voice janina schweitzer

Mach doch! is composed for a single loudspeaker in any kind of listening situation. It aimes to combine a sonically electronic world with a sort of pop-approach to structure: a short and clear form that presents one main idea in a direct and straight forward way.

Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

audio, 4-channel / ambisonics

Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is the sonic genetic manipulation of a cinematic Hollywood sample: in a recursive process, children and grandchildren with increasingly complex strands of DNA derive themselves from its extended gene pool and are lost one by one to the anarchy of white noise.

8 Hours of Ocean Sounds

8 Hours of Ocean Sounds is an algorithmically composed sound file that seems to contain the sound of waves. it lasts – obviously – eight hours. the true source of the sounds that are processed by the algorithm are a highway and a toilet flush.

re: (answering terry riley)

voices marit kleinert | julius borger
production malte katthagen

in 1967, terry riley created a piece around the pop song you‘re no good by the harvey averne dozen. it has three very distinct parts: a synthesizer intro, the song (unprocessed), and a tape-collage of fragments of the song.

re: also takes a pop songs as it’s starting point, but in this case it was written and recorded for the purpose of this composition only. the song echoes the sound of the 1960s in a retro but electronic way. like in you’re no good, the lyrics stay within the boundaries of the expectable. “you’re no good” becomes “you’re so good” and the perspective shifts from the leaving person to the left behind person. in that sense, not only the piece in its entirety is an answer to terry riley’s piece, the song within the piece is also an answer to the harvey averne dozen’s song.
